New Europe Film Sales – the Warsaw-based sales agency - has sold the Gotham Independent Film Award-nominated film Now, Forager: A Film About Love and Fungi by Jason Cortlund and Julia Halperin to distributors in Australia (Accent Film) and Benelux (Imagine). The film is currently doing a theatrical run the USA and the Baltic states and in November it will play in competition in Mannheim-Heidelberg IFF, Leeds IFF and the American Film Festival in Wrocław, Poland.
The company has also found distribution for the other feature film in its slate, the Rotterdam 2012 competition title It Looks Pretty From a Distance by Anka and Wilhelm Sasnal. Rights for Germany, Austria and Switzerland were picked up by a new, Munich-based distributor, Eksystent Distribution.
New Europe Film Sales’ core business is still selling award-winning short films. This year, it has secured five Oscar-qualified films: two animations (The Game and Last Bus) and three live-action films (Frozen Stories, Superman, Spiderman or Batman and Astrid). The films come from Poland, Slovakia, Romania and Sweden. New Europe Film Sales has had an Oscar shortlisted title every year since 2010.
